Poggio al Sole Winery
The grape growing and wine making tradition of the Davaz family go back several years. The family has been producing wine in their estate in Switzerland since the early seventies.
Johannes Davaz has been involved in the vineyards starting at young age. Later he formally concluded winegrower formation and pursued a formal education as oenologists.
Johannes and his wife Kathrin move to Badia a Passignano in the Chianti Classico area in 1990 were they pioneered sustainable agriculture and later organic wine making.
in 2019 the second born son Valentino and his wife Stephanie joined the adventure and together the two generations are shaping the future of Poggio al Sole.

Our Wines
The approximately 24 hectares of vine slopes face south-east to south-west and are approximately 320-480 metres above sea level.
Only 400-600 grams of grapes are harvested from each square meter. The organic wines are vegan certified and produced with the loving care of the owners, sustainable farming and decades of experience.
Poggio al Sole is know in Tuscany but also internationally for its authentic Sangiovese based Chianti Classico wines. Especially the 100% Sangiovese, Gran Selezione Casasilia has been rewarded with many awards by the international wine press.
The Poggio al Sole winery can be visited for wine tastings, cellar tours with light lunch as well as for holiday stays.
